The kids were asleep in their cribs as I was strapped to a baby on my back. Ha! Ha! It all started to make sense, but wasn't quite completed. It would take the time, energy, as well as my personal favorite to furnish this house. To stay within budget, I began taking my kids to estate sales looking for of diamonds. The weekly ritual was that we would walk through garage and estate sales on Thursdays and Saturdays, purchasing a mix of antique and brand new furniture. I then spent the rest of my time painting and sanding outside in our driveway. The furniture was like this... and that's where I got my passion to restore. I continued to restore furniture, even after having furnished our house. There was an area at the local markets that I could sell my pieces. In the end, I was stuffed with too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. At home, I would host open houses where more than 1,000 people were able to come in and purchase any product they wanted from the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days was created in this house. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our family of four. It was essential to find the right balance for me. I wanted to balance being a mother and a successful business owner. Growing Days just seemed to fit. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora became our fourth child. The direction my company was heading was excellent, however I needed to get some down time. I decided to put off doing work on my furniture for a while and be at home with the children. It was what I wanted. It rang once more after a while. The people who called me were needing help with the interior decoration and renovations. The majority of them were people who came into my residence during my furniture open houses. Once I had a few months, I took on clients according to my schedule. In no time, I was managing multiple accounts, as well as a house renovations company. If you had told me that my venture would end up being the basis for a DIY Network show, I would probably have thought you were crazy. If I think at it, it has made me giggle.
